Body measures, month and a half since last time

Loss in bicep probably is due to my not doing the gym for a while :s I’m going to get back into a routine tomorrow with swimming and gym time, I’m looking forward to it!

I just dyed my hair magenta, and I found this faaab skirt while shopping that nearly matches a bra I have! :D Not like I’d wear them both out in public anyway!

never thought I would look/feel thinner with short hair. Proven wrong yet again! I haven’t had hair above my shoulders since third grade, and I had a bowl cut back then lololol.
Insanity in the background, I’m drinking my epic amount of pre-workout water so I don’t get so darn thirsty haha!

frustrating numbers

I can see the change in my body, but my weight hasn’t really changed since a month ago. I’m still weighing around 170, the body fat measure I have still puts me at 31% (my measurements HAVE changed, at least :I)

I’m eating well, though I think I may be taking too many calories in at night. I work out in the evenings, and I’ve been doing the protein shake thing after. Sometimes, though, I’ll make a fruit smoothie and add the protein and perhaps its just too many calories. I use unsweetened almond milk which is about 35 calories per serving, so I feel like that keeps the calories lower than they could be—but just having that much fruit inside probably adds up. 

I’m torn, though. I know I’m working really hard with Insanity and I want to be getting enough calories. I was definitely too low when I was first starting out with it, because I’d end up fatigued and crabby.

went backwards for a while but I’m doing better

motivational unflattering photos (?)

i took a rest day last thursday, which somehow turned into a rest week.

problem being is that i couldn’t help but peer into the dining center at 11am monday and wednesday, notice friends, and then not leave in time for catching class at noon. And having little to no motivation to go later in the day.

I feel like I have been eating well, sticking to half my plate being celery/peanut butter and cucumbers and ranch, and 1/4 to protein. I’m probably not getting the whole grains I need but generally the options at school are limited. For snacks I have apple juice, cheese sticks and occasionally I cheat with a muffin when I miss lunch :x ( i try to have an early dinner and then a late dinner to compensate, and I think it comes out reasonably)

but insofar as exercise I am not really pleased with myself. Thus, I took some lovely unflattering photos of my body so that I have concrete proof of changes happening. 

I know that my waist is smaller—its around a 32 now and around my belly button is ~36. A loss of two inches at either measurement. I just can’t depend on my scale right now because it’ll show me anywhere from 165-175 on any given time at any given day. I usually weigh myself in the morning and it will vary that much from one day to the other :x it’s so frustrating.

so… yeah. I’m not posting these to torture myself, and I actually have those jeans packed up for when I’m back in the mid 150’s. My problem seems to be a bit of dismorphia that doesn’t transfer to photos. I may look in the mirror and think I am a whale one day and the next day be ready to bring out the miniskirts (almost). So I hope this will serve as A) a reality check and B) something to compare against later.

My body fat measure puts me around 30-31% every time I use it, although I wonder of its accuracy if I can’t even pinpoint my weight correctly. :IIII

Day One!

Did my first day of jillian michael’s 30 day shred. I think I might spread it to 60 days depending on how my body feels today.

The 20 minute workout was pretty good, I think the 5 lb weights might have been a bit heavy for me but I was pleased with the interval times and how things switched up quickly. I guess I will just get super boss muscles with my 5 pounders aw yee.

Probably will do some jumproping after lunch, I really like this 20 minute workout stuff. With getting my stuff gathered for the gym, taking the bus/walking there, working out and coming back it’s usually a 1.5-2 hour ordeal with maybe a half hour of actual working out, lol. Still going to do gym days, and I think that my legs could handle the c25k in series with this. 

Might do some additional ab exercises later too, NOT SORE ENOUGH :I

the weirdest thing is that these measurements aren’t much different from the point when I stopped working out around christmas break…and technically the weight isn’t either, although I’m sure I’ve lost some muscle mass since then. 

that is, until I measured around my belly button. (38 in)

yeah, it was 35 before….that’s where it all went :P

I decided, since I was angry at the machine at the mall and tired of wondering if my measures were off because I was dehydrated, or too soon after eating or etc etc, that I would just buy a personal body fat monitor. I’m not sure if it’s exactly as accurate, but this way I can do as many measures as I want to get an accurate reading.

Also, they are supposed to be done without clothes, so it seems the mall one is less than ideal (?) plus having to put in a dollah every time I wanted to check. This one cost $26, and free shipping with amazon prime (students get a free year!)

Anyway, I couldn’t wait the recommended three hours since eating because I -just- got it in the mail, and it put my body fat reading at 25.4%, at 1:30pm

so, compared to my original reading, that’d be the same lean body mass (119.3 lbs)  and 40 lbs of fat (down from 46)

And ALMOST between the average (25%) and Good (22%) readings 8D

as opposed to between average (25%) and poor (29%) aww yee

This, I can accept. hurhur. Going to try to take daily measurements for a while at the same time, to try to get an average reading. or something!

So, today was my one month point from the last time I had a body fat measurement.

I was looking forward to it, as my jeans are fitting properly (what used to be muffin-top skinny jeans are now normal pants!) and I’ve noticed more muscle and less fat on my legs and arms.

I was -stunned- to find that the measures put my body fat mass at 44.9 lbs

with a body fat % of 28, and lean body mass of 116 lbs.

One month ago,

28% body fat, lean body mass of 119. 46 lbs body fat.

I can’t figure out how I lost three pounds of muscle and only one of fat. I’m completely at a loss. The only thing I can surmise is either it wasn’t accurate last time, isn’t accurate this time or… ???

I’m close to my womanly times and I did eat a big lunch today and yesterday, but I still just. So much confused.

I don’t want to go back and give that machine another dollar to tell me the exact same thing either. :/ Super bummed right now.

moar swim

I ran into my friend from class swimming today, he had a goal of doing two miles. Generally, I’m a little faster than him.

We ended up swimming over 2 hours o.o

I put in 3700 meters total. Wowza XD Over two miles! (2.3 to be exaaact)

Not much to report. Had an omelette and a bowl of cereal this morning, ate pretty healthy the rest of the day (so far)

Napped for like, 3 hours today after swimming, I guess I tuckered myself out! Honestly, I don’t think I’ll work out this weekend. I’m looking at a high of 10* farenheit all weekend hahah. Not exactly the kind of weather to run/walk in lol. I’m happy with my 3-times-a-week swimming :D

Sunday is weigh in and measurements! I’m not sure if I’ll have pictures because my camera is broken, but I have a backup camera that I need to find the charger for :3 We’ll see!
